Who We Are

Our History

Established in 1995 as Foundations Academy and St. Ambrose High School, we began with a vision to provide classical Christian education in the Treasure Valley. Starting with just three students, the school experienced steady growth, leading to its first graduating class in 2006. In 2008, the institution unified all grades under the name The Ambrose School. The following year, we relocated to our flagship campus on Locust Grove Rd. in Meridian, Idaho. Today, we serve over 900 students across two campuses, remaining steadfast in our commitment to integrating faith and reason through classical Christian education.

Our Mission & Distinctives

The mission of The Ambrose School is to nurture students’ appreciation of truth, goodness, and beauty as they strive for excellence while guiding them to live purposefully in the service of God and man.

  

Our school distinctives reflect the core principles that guide our educational approach:

  • Honoring God in all we do.
  • Presenting knowledge as an integrated whole with God at the center.
  • Providing a classical education rooted in the foundations of Western civilization.
  • Partnering with parents in the shared responsibility of raising and educating children.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our convictions are rooted in the truth of Scripture and the teachings of the Christian faith, affirming the inerrancy of the Bible.

  1. We believe the Bible to be the only inerrant, authoritative Word of God.

  2. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  3. We believe God made the heavens, the earth, and man as related in the account of creation in the first two chapters of Genesis.

  4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

  5. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary.

  6. We believe salvation is by grace alone through faith alone and that faith without works is dead.

7. We believe the indwelling Holy Spirit enables the Christian to live a godly life.

8. We believe in the resurrection of the saved to eternal life and the lost to eternal damnation.

 

9. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. 

10. We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of God’s design.

11. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. 

12. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

SCHOOL COLORS, MASCOT, AND HERALDRY

COLORS:

Our primary color is navy blue, with white as an accent. In ancient Rome, public servants wore blue, symbolizing duty and service. As our students develop their character in a self-centered world, we want them to remember that they are, first and foremost, servants—servants of Christ and servants of their fellow man.



MASCOT:

The Archer, representing our commitment to aiming for truth, beauty, and goodness in all pursuits.



HERALDRY:

These elements in our crest, dating back to the earliest period of heraldry, reflect our commitment to a Christ-centered education rooted in self-sacrifice, service, and virtue.

    • Chi Rho: At the base of our crest, the Chi Rho symbolizes Christ as the foundation of all we do. The Chi Rho, representing the first two letters of “Christ” in Greek, is accompanied by the Alpha and Omega, representing Christ’s divinity as the beginning and the end of everything. This symbol, used by early Christians, underscores the centrality of Christ in our mission.
    • Pelican: The Pelican symbolizes self-sacrifice and charity, reflecting the Christian virtues we aim to instill in our students. Medieval Christians associated the pelican with love and piety, believing it would sacrifice its own blood to nourish its young, embodying the sacrificial nature of Christ’s love.
