Here at The Ambrose School we have a language of our own. It is a combination of classical education, Latin, and Christianity. Sometimes it is confusing so we would like to initiate you into The Ambrose School Lingo Club! (That’s not really an official club, but it maybe it should be!)
HRP: HOME ROOM PARENT

Exordium is Latin for an introductory portion of an oration. Every other week a grade presents what they have been learning in class. Parents, grandparents, and friends are encouraged to attend. Exordias (plural term) are held in the gym. Check the Exordia schedule to see when your student will perform.
Once a student enters 7th grade, they are randomly placed into a “House”. There are a total of 8 houses, each with their own name and logo. Houses compete in games and community service events to earn points for their House.
UPPER SCHOOL RETREAT
Grades 7-12 are required to attend the 3 day Upper School Retreat during the first week of school. The students, faculty, and administration head to the mountains where 7th graders are chosen for their new House and students enjoy a time of bonding and setting expectations for the new school year.
